Black Pink is a six-member South Korean girl group. The group debuted on June 16, 2018, with the single LDZ and its follow-up single Whistle. They are the first all-female band in K-Pop history and the first K-pop act to feature an all-woman lineup. Black Pink’s members are Rosé, YoonA, Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Minzy.
They were formed by the JM Entertainment sublabel of YG Entertainment and debuted on their sixth anniversary with the release of their single “LDZ” in June 2018. The group released two more singles before reviving their debut EP Square Two as well as releasing a track from their second EP titled Circle: Two peas in an album.
Black Pink is managed by Woo Jinyoung and has a musical director for every song written for them. Their leader is Jung Chan Wook who joined YG Entertainment at the age of 15 and is currently 28 years old.
Black Pink’s formation stemmed from the desire of YG CEO Yang Hyun Seok to find new talent that would be able to compete with existing girl groups like Red Velvet or TWICE. He wanted to sign five individuals who would eventually become Black Pink when they were younger; however he was only able to secure one member each time he tried this until he finally signed up five girls who would go on to form Black Pink when they became adults.

Officially, the leader of Black Pink is Jung Chan Wook and the group’s main producer. However, Rosé Kim has taken on a leadership role within the group that many attribute to her being the leader of Black Pink. Still, it is not confirmed whether she is officially their leader or not.

Lisa Young
– The Leader of Black Pink
Lisa Young is the leader of Black Pink. The most noticeable thing about her is that she has a mysterious aura around her. From an appearance perspective, she’s very dark with a black hair and brown eyes. She also has a very sharp nose and thin eyebrows which are both in contrast with her light skin tone. She’s 5 feet and 3 inches tall, making her one of the shorter members in the group. Her weight is estimated to be around 68 kg (150 pounds).
Lisa Young leads Black Pink by wearing a lot of colorful clothing that show off her love for fashion and make her stand out from other members like Jennie or Jisoo who wear more “simpler” outfits. Lisa seems to have a sense of style that sets herself apart from the rest of Black Pink as well as an interest in fashion design because she used to be in charge for designing clothes for their company back when they were under YG Entertainment before becoming famous.
She was born on February 10th, 1995 in Gwangju, South Korea; making her 19 years old at the time of their debut in June 2018 but doesn’t seem to have any problems acting older since she’s already been signed up under YG Entertainment since 2014. She’s often known as being quiet but caring towards others including friends, family, and fans who ask questions online or send messages through social media channels like Instagram or YouTube.
Minzy Jooyoung
– While Black Pink was originally going to be a five member group, Minzy left the agency in June 2017 and ended up joining Cube Entertainment.
Black Pink’s influence on K-Pop and society
Black Pink has been credited with influencing the K-Pop industry by breaking conventions, becoming the first all-female band in history and being the first K-pop act to feature an all-woman lineup. With four of their members under age 17, Black Pink is also considered a breakthrough for the music genre’s youngest stars.
In addition to these accomplishments, Black Pink has also garnered a significant following on social media due to their relatable personalities and humor that comes through in their music videos. They have been praised for their ability to use different languages and styles to express themselves artistically from EDM to R&B.
Black Pink is also credited with making a huge impact on society as they are one of the few K-Pop groups who aren’t playing into traditional gender stereotypes like “the pretty girl” or “the tough guy.” They have broken down stereotypes about women’s roles in society and lead by example by showing that men can be feminine or soft while women can be masculine or aggressive too. This is said to have helped pave the way for other female artists including NCT Dream and TWICE who are now taking over not just Korean but worldwide markets as well.
Black Pink members individually
Prior to debuting, each member of Black Pink had trained under the agency for three years. Jisoo, who was born on November 30, 1994 and is now 19 years old, originally trained as a dancer before becoming a vocalist. Jennie was born on March 10, 1995 and is now 20 years old. Lisa was born on May 15, 1997 and is also 20 years old; she originally trained as a dancer before becoming a vocalist. Finally would be Minzy who was born on January 16, 1999 and is now 21 years old; she first trained as an actor before training in dance which led her to become a vocalist for Black Pink.
Each member has their own unique qualities with the youngest being Rosé who was born on June 27th 1998 and is currently 18 years old. She is the only member of the group not from South Korea and instead hails from Canada where she grew up in Toronto until she turned 13 when her parents moved her to South Korea so that they could support their daughter’s career as they believed she would develop into a great singer one day.
Black Pink debuted just six months after Red Velvet did so it makes sense that there are many similarities between them such as both being six-member groups with similar concepts of producing songs that are upbeat and fun to listen to while also having an empowering message within it. However, despite these similarities there were two members of Red Velvet who left shortly after their debut which makes it difficult for them
