Ram Nath Kovind

The first President of India is Ram Nath Kovind. He was born on October 1, 1945 in Kanpur to Shrimati Tulsi Devi and Shri Nathulal Kothari. He was the third child in the family and had six siblings. He got his education from various schools around Kanpur and graduated from Bachelor of Arts (BA) from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai University in 1969 and Master of Arts (MA) in Political Science from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda four years later. His political career started as a student leader at college level. In 1971, he joined Bharatiya Jan Sangh, a right-wing Hindu nationalist political party which wanted to establish a Hindu state that would be free of Muslims and Christians. He became the General Secretary of All India Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha after joining it in 1972 and held the position until 1977 when he left the party to become an independent candidate for Parliament elections.
He started his political career by contesting parliamentary elections from two different constituencies – Kanpur South constituency in 1977 and Darbhanga constituency in 1980 where he won both on first attempts. For 12 years he remained a member of Rajya Sabha during which time he also served as its vice-president in 1986–88 and 1988–89 terms but resigned due to differences with Jana Sangh Party led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee regarding seat distribution among states. Shivraj Patil

Shivraj Patil is the current President of India. He was elected on 7 June 2014 and took office on 25 July 2014. Shivraj Patil previously served as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, which he represented in the 11th Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009.

Patil also served as a Cabinet minister in the Union Government under Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh.

In 1972, Maroosh Billimoria became Secretary at Apollo Hospital where he served until 1985 when he left to join Dr Harish Chandra Prasad Poddar Institute of Medical Sciences as its medical director until 1996.
Billimoria went through a lot of upheaval during his Presidency and faced many challenges such as Congress Party split, Emergency rule by Indira Gandhi without consulting Parliament etc., but he continued serving people all through it all despite facing such challenges.
